Photos of the rehearsal room are the audiences window into the whole development process. It means they can see the hours of work that have gone into the show but also the fun that’s been had behind the scenes while making it.

For my sessions I will come in as a casual observer for the first half of the session taking photos in a ‘reportage’ fashion, blending into the background and getting genuine moments from the cast and crew making notes as I go. Then based on those notes offer up suggestions of set up shots for moments from scenes or dance numbers that I may have missed or taken from the wrong angle to make sure we have those money shots you want in your programme.

Selling a show is one of the main focuses of a PR photoshoot. You want that image that will draw the eye and make an audience member want to know more and eventually buy that ticket. Those winning images will be used across the production on posters, social media and the programmes making that photo the face of the entire production.

I work closely with the marketing team and the creatives on the ground to get that hero shot. Starting at the first meeting I make notes on the show and the aesthetics you are trying to convey in your image and discuss with everyone involved how we think we can best achieve this; be it location shoots or a shoot in studio that you can hand to your digital team to add to any background you are looking for.

Every production is different which is why I don’t publicise costs on my site. They can tend to be quite misleading when one shoot is on location in the Cotswolds and another is in a studio in London.
